Big yay Admin. I asked for that code change for mac and I was surprised to get it so fast. Thank you very much. I went on and wel I have some bugs to work out with my Mic I guess it's to loud and I seem to of anoid some people. Not what I was out to do but oh well. Maybe my next try will be better and I can find some one that can help me with sound so I don't bother anyone else. In any case I wanted to "rave" about the fast reply on this thank you so much.

Actually this codec change is incredibly irritating. It means that everybody clips, making irritating loud static sounds when they speak because this codec doesn't work as well. It means everyone is being deafened and the vt experience is noo longer a nice and happy one.

I think in general, people just need to turn their volume down a bit when they talk. When that's done, it works better. The codec isn't as flexible as GSM, unfortunately. This is still a test for now.

Sigh as much as I wanted to talk to every one if it is better the other way maybe It should go back. No one will talk to me anyhow so don't guess I'll need it anyway. I know I'm not the only mac user here but if pc out rank in number maybe it should go back to the way it was. Thanks admin.

J, We actually tried that, and yes to an extent it helps, but not very much, simply because as soon as someone coughs or laughs again it clips, if people get excited it clips, and for those like myself who are partially deaf, when people turn their mikes down we have to if possible start turning them up which only works to an extent, simply because in many cases I've already had to do that when their mikes are set at a normal level. I'm not trying to be difficult, I've seen this codec used on other servers, and I had the same problems.

Yes, I know the difficulties with the codec. This should almost be on the suggestions board,, so more people will see it. Maybe someone should start a debate there.

Not being able to use VT, I don't actually know first hand what it is that is annoying the users. However, I do think that it is important for mac users to be able to access the server as well as us windows users. So if it's working and everyone can go on, I think it should be kept this way. A few annoyances should be tollerated sometimes and I think that with time, people will get used to it.

It should also be said at this stage that a few of us have tried switching to the new beta version of the Ventrilo program and it eliminates a lot of the nasty noises for windows users. it is beta version 2.3.2. so if you do find the distortion too intolerable, you could always try that.

Yes. See the post in the announcements board on this. We are recommending that all Windows users upgrade to 2.3.2. Then we can all live in harmony, or perhaps most of us.

Hopefully They've gone away from a GSM implimentation of speex. And yes, I know that sounds odd, but that's what it is.
